Assistant Professor of Historical Theology

Professor Eric joined the faculty in the summer of 2006 and in his short time here has already demonstrated a heart for students and mentoring. In fact, Professor Eric often has a line of students waiting at his door to meet with him.
Besides making a good pot of coffee (usually to share with students in the student lounge), Professor Eric is involved in doctoral study at Bible Baptist Seminary. He has a wife and two children, Mark and Grace.
Professor Eric teaches in the Historical Theology Department.
Testimony
My exposure to gospel truth began in 1974, when our family started attending a Baptist church in Chesapeake, Virginia. Over the course of the next several years, the Lord prepared my heart to understand the gospel. In November of 1981, the Lord used a sermon on the necessity of repentance to open my eyes to my need for salvation; it was at this time that I yielded to His lordship in faith and repentance.
Several months after confessing Christ in 1981, I began to have a distinct conviction that God would have me serve the Lord in vocational Christian ministry. By the end of my senior year in high school, this conviction led me to dismiss aspirations for a career in military aviation and to prepare for ministry. After completing my undergraduate work in Tennessee, I continued graduate study in Texas and Michigan. In 1997 the Lord brought my wife Anna into my life, and now 11 years later our two children, Mark and Grace, fill our home with all the gladness that parents could ever desire. God’s kind hand over the years has afforded the privilege of serving Him in the classroom, the mission field, the local church, and now at CBTS.
