When I came to Central Baptist Theological Seminary of Virginia Beach in 1999, I had no idea exactly what the Lord wanted me to do with a seminary education. My background was in finance and accounting and at that time I was working as an accountant for the Department of Defense. My plan then was to graduate from Central and move on to studying for an M.B.A. It always felt strange to stand up in chapel service with those whom the Lord had called to be pastors, missionaries, and teachers and say that I had no idea how God wanted me to use my seminary education, I just knew that I wanted to study God's Word and that Central was where He wanted me now.

A few months before graduation, I was approached by Dr. Michael Windsor and asked to prayerfully consider becoming a librarian for the seminary once I retired from my civil service job. I really didn't need to give this much thought since it didn't fit into my plans to remain employed in some area of the financial world after retirement. However, prayer changes things! My wife, Carolyn and I, spent much time in prayer over this request and the Lord led us (Pr. 3:6) to accept the position at Central after retirement.
