Ernest D. Pickering Library
Mission Statement
The mission of the Ernest D. Pickering Library is to provide curriculum support, information access, and research resources for the students, the faculty, the staff, and the families of the Seminary community.
History
The Pickering Library is named in honor of Rev. Dr. Ernest D. Pickering (1928-2000). Dr. Pickering was a notable leader among Fundamentalist Baptists, pastor, educator, mission agency executive, and author. It was while he was serving as the president of Central Baptist Theological Seminary of Minneapolis that plans were made for duplicating the seminary ministry on the East Coast. Dr. Pickering served as an erstwhile counselor, early Board of Trustees member, and, upon his retirement from active ministry, donated his pastoral library to Central Baptist Theological Seminary of Virginia Beach.
Collection
The Pickering Library houses a growing collection of books (over 40,000), periodicals, and related research material. The library collection is fully searchable through an online public access catalog which includes internet access. The library provides internet access for student research.
