SELAH MOMENT
Oct. 7, 2007

David wrote in Psalm 19, "The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork. 19:2 Day unto day utters speech, And night unto night reveals knowledge. 19:3 There is no speech nor language Where their voice is not heard. 19:4 Their line has gone out through all the earth, and their words to the end of the world.  In them He has set a tabernacle for the sun, 19:5 which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, and rejoices like a strong man to run its race. 19:6 Its rising is from one end of heaven, and its circuit to the other end; and there is nothing hidden from its heat."

The creation calls our attention to the work of the creator.  His work reveals His glorious worth.

The glory and the work for the Creator pours forth every day, every where into every language so that every one hears it. The Lord never needs a translator to be heard in His creation.

However, as David noted in Psalm 19:7-14, creation does not save, it is the perfect Word of God that converts the soul.

So what do you think God intends us to do with the creation theme found in Psalm 19 and the opening pages of Genesis 1 and 2?  How could we apply the theology of creation to the routines of our life?

If God is the Maker of Heaven and Earth then I will affirm or confess the following.

My hope is in the One who brought life out of nothing.  I will face the darkness of my sin with the light of His person and the power of His Word.

My help is from the One who shaped the world’s terrain and filled every body of water.  I will stop approaching the tasks of my day with the arrogant attitude that I can do all things.

My comfort and my blessing come from the One who sees everything in creation and maintains it in perfect harmony.  I will not complain about what He chooses to do with my life.

My confidence is in the One who feeds and dresses His creation as He determines best. I will not worry about the money, the children, or the work.

My song is the glorious work of the One who has no beginning and no end.  I will stop boasting about myself and start drawing attention to my eternal God.

My persistent joy is in the One who remains faithful to me. I will call upon Him in the day of trouble and I will rejoice in Him always.

My fear is that I will not fear Him as I should.

My judgment and my ultimate accountability are to no one other than the Lord Himself.

O Lord, because you are the Maker of Heaven and Earth I rejoice in what you choose to do with me and with my life.
