SELAH MOMENT
Nov. 4, 2007

The final chorus of the song, O, to See the Dawn, is powerful and life transforming.

This, the power of the cross; Son of God, slain for us. What a love! What a cost! We stand forgiven at the cross.

The cross work of Christ is valuable and effective because of the glorious worth of His person.

On the basis of the Scripture’s reliability we confess the divine worth of Christ’s person and its life changing impact on our lives.

We confess the unquestioned deity of Christ.

Since He is God (John 1; Phil 2; Col 2; Heb 1, and since I am merely a man, I worship Him and Him alone (Rev 4).

We confess the eternal nature of Christ.

Because He is without beginning and without end I will rejoice in how His never-ending divine life gives meaning to my fragile earthly existence (Heb 1:11).

We confess the absolute purity of Christ (1 Peter 2:22).

Because He is without deceit I will trust Christ in every step of life knowing that He will not deceive me in the outworking of His good and eternal purposes for me.

We confess the unrivaled power of Christ (Heb 1:2; Col 1:13-18).

Because He spoke the world into existence and because He is sustaining all things by His word, I will stop letting my finances, my health, my job, my family, and my toys measure my strength and I will allow His glorious might to give me endurance, patience, and joy (Col 1:11).

We confess the infinite wisdom of Christ (Col 2:3).

Because in Him are hidden all the treasures of all wisdom and knowledge, I will stop letting the TV, the radio, and the internet capture and shape my thoughts and my affections.

We confess the unlimited riches of Christ’s person (Eph 1:7).

Because of the riches of His grace, I will stop diving into the dumpsters of this world trying to find something to make me rich and I resolve to treasure the glorious Christ.

We confess the uncontested finality of Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection that paid the debt of sin (Phil 2:6-11; 1 Cor 15:1-4; Heb 9-10).

Because it is finished, because He paid it all, I will gladly live a thankful life in humble service to Christ, my Savior who has reconciled me to Himself (Col 1:21)

We confess Jesus Christ to be King of Kings and Lord of Lords whose (Rev 17:14; 19:16).

I will stop worrying about how I have been wronged and rest in the righteous reign of Christ.

We confess the soon return of Christ (1 Thess 4).

Because He is my blessed Hope, I will stop being quiet about my Christ; I will proclaim His worth and work.

This is the Christ! May God help us to be radically transformed in all of our actions and attitudes as we treasure Him above all things.
