SELAH MOMENT
111:1 Praise the LORD! I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, In the assembly of the upright and in the congregation.
111:2 The works of the LORD are great, studied by all who have pleasure in them.
111:3 His work is honorable and glorious, and His righteousness endures forever.
111:4 He has made His wonderful works to be remembered; the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.
111:5 He has given food to those who fear Him; He will ever be mindful of His covenant.
111:6 He has declared to His people the power of His works, in giving them the heritage of the nations.
111:7 The works of His hands are verity and justice; all His precepts are sure.
111:8 They stand fast forever and ever, and are done in truth and uprightness.
111:9 He has sent redemption to His people; He has commanded His covenant forever: holy and awesome is His name.
111:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom; A good understanding have all those who do His commandments. His praise endures forever.
This Hallelujah Psalm, Psalm 111, praises God for who He is and for what He does. By means of three different terms the writer draws attention to the glorious, powerful, ever enduring work of God.
His works declare the glory and the power of His person.
"Lord, worthy Is your name."
The integrity of His work speaks of His righteousness, justice, and truth (111:3, 7-8).
"Lord, I bless your name."
The fact that we, His people benefit from His work speaks of His grace, His compassion, and His unfailing commitment (111:4) to us.
"Lord, You are the treasure I seek."
The spectacular nature of His work reveals that He is all-powerful and that He is Holy and awesome (111:9).
"Lord, You are my strength when I am weak."
The majestic awe-inspiring work of Lord is redemptive (111:9).
"Lord, when I fall down you pick me up."
Those who see the glorious work of God are exhorted to exalt the Him with a God-fearing life (111:10).
"Lord, to give up I would be a fool."
God’s work on our behalf is a tremendous incentive to humbly submit to the will and directives of our eternal God.
"Lord, You are My All in All."
