SELAH MOMENT
The review of Israel’s past, present, and future is concluded with a hymn of praise in Romans 11:33-36. The hymn beautifully echoes sovereignty themes from Isaiah 40 (verses 13-31).
11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out!
11:34 “Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?”
11:35 “Who has ever given to God, that God should repay him?”
11:36 For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be the glory forever! Amen.
If God’s riches, wisdom, and knowledge are immeasurably deep, then why do I swim in the swallow waters of conventional wisdom?
If the sovereignty of God’s decisions is impossible to explain, then why do I always question how God works in my life?
If the mystery of God’s ways is impossible to comprehend, then why am I always trying to manage God’s involvement in my life?
If our all-knowing God confers with no one, then why do I talk to everyone but Him?
If our all-sufficient God is not indebted to anyone, then why do I look to everyone else for help but Him?
If all things truly come from God, then why won’t I bow my knee to Him?
